Last night Edward J was in the building (Club Royal Blue) for the Jadakiss show. The upcoming artists from VA (I hate the term "local artist", more on that in another post) opened the show up crazy. Jet Noise Cardi did his thing with CRAZY energy. It was my first time seeing him perform and kid is nice. Young Nova did his thing next. Dude has that real street talk in his music, not my type of thing but he's making it work. There definitely were some people in the crowd relating to and feeling his vibe. Ja-Skizzal and WVMG also performed and delivered. Skizzal must do like 3 hours of cardio everyday because he is everywhere when he performs. Doing push-ups, crunches and running around the club while performing and not sounding out of breath. Do your thing homie. Yung Juan and CMG (Cheesetown Money Getters) took the floor next. I had been hearing a lot about homie and his camp. They have a few records that I was feeling. I'm going to listen to them a little more to get a better feel for their music.
Now on to the man of the night. I went off in the back to chop it up with Jada for a quick minute and to bless him with the exclusive Edward J/Kustom Sign Works Kiss Of Death tee. Dude was real humble and feeling a little nice lol. I was worried that I had brought him the wrong size shirt, someone told me 2x but I wasn't feeling that. So I went with the 1x instead and was dead on! He was feeling the shirts and my homie on his team asked if I wanted to get a picture with him and the tee. Of course I wanted to, however as a professional courtesy I asked Jada if he would rather wait until after his set to which he said yes. Sometimes artist like to get in their zone before a show and I didn't want to seem all thirsty for a picture. Once agreed on after the show I knew I wouldn't get the pic lol. After a few rounds of drinks, that feel good and groupies I didn't stand a chance. As long as he got the shirts I'm cool. The show on the other hand was crazy. He started from way back in his catalog and brought it open to current records. Watching him perform last night really made me realize how many hits he has. The crowd rocked and sung the words to every single part of the set. The best part of the whole entire night was as we were leaving, he walked through the crowd shook hands and hugged people as we headed for the van. You don't see that a lot with celebrities that come through. I stuck my head inside the van between a pair of groupie asses and thanked him for the opportunity to give him the shirts. With a salute and the trademark Jadakiss smile he said "no problem my dude" with his eyes half closed.
All in all it was a good night. I will post some video of the show and a pic of the shirt later. I have to thank the She-Boss Ms. Pat for taking the time to bring quality acts and investing in the VA Entertainment scene. Also thank you to my homie CEO-P and Tone for putting me on. Next up for me, judging the auditions to open up for the Teflon Don Rick Ross on 10/10 and then the Rick Ross show on 10/14 at The Alley. This one is going to be MAJOR!!!!!!
